Microchip and SIAC registration

Dogs, cats and ferrets must be microchipped and registered in SIAC in the owner name. What is needed and what changes when you move.

What to do, step by step

1. 1The microchip is implanted by the vet, who immediately registers it in SIAC (the national pet information system) in the owner name.
2. 2Check on the SIAC site that your details (address, phone, e-mail) are correct: that is how you get contacted when the animal is found.
3. 3Moved house, changed number or gave the animal to someone else? Update the record or transfer ownership; the death of the animal is also notified.
4. 4The rabies vaccine is mandatory for dogs (and the health booklet must be up to date); confirm the booster schedule with the vet.
5. 5Licence: in many municipalities the dog needs an annual licence at the parish council; the one for potentially dangerous dogs has its own requirements.
